In 1994 the Soldier of Fortune Magazine introduced the GLOCK 21 to the American public. Ever since it has gained a reputation for robustness and reliability. It has been adopted by local and federal law enforcement agencies as duty weapons. It is also a popular sports pistol. The gun has successfully passed tests as rigorous as the U.S. XM9 trials.

The GLOCK 21 is an offering of the Austrian company, Glock, which was founded by Gaston Glock in 1963 in Deutsch-Wagram, near Vienna, Austria. The Model 21 pistols are now manufactured in the U.S. at Glock's Georgia facility.

The GLOCK 21 pistol is large framed, with a 45 ACP barrel, and a 13 round capacity. It is it is similar to the GLOCK 20, though it has a modified slide and magazine.

Over the years it has undergone 3 major revisions, now the 3rd generation GLOCK 21s are available. In the GLOCK 21C the barrel and slide are compensated to decrease muzzle climb while shooting. The magazine bodies, followers and floor plates are manufactured from polymer, these have steel liners and indicator holes.
Its overall length is 8.27 inches, the height, inclusive of sights and inserted magazine, is 4.85 inches and the a width of 1.2 inches at the grips.

The sight radius of the Model 21 is 6.75 inches. A Self-luminous, tritium, low-light-level sights can be fitted directly from Glock, Inc, these will last more than 10 years.
The barrel length is 4.6 inches, while the weight is 29.5 ounces with an empty magazine which is almost 10 ounces lesser that the Colt Double Eagle or M1911A1. Much of the frame is steel, and its large frame size makes it suitable to people with a bigger hands.

The Glock pistols are preferred because they can function even in the most hostile conditions. Also they are easy to maintain on the field because of the simplicity of design, low cost of replacements and ruggedness. The steel components are treated with Tenifer, which is nitriding process. This makes the surface of the weapon corrosion resistant.
As these are also lower in weight than other the steel or aluminum frame handguns, it is popular for personal defense. This adds to the ease of use.

The Glock's well-known Safe Action System makes sure that there are no errors in a stressful situation. These precautions are the trigger safety, striker safety and drop safety. There is an external lever mechanism within the trigger preventing it from moving unless the lever is depressed.

The spring-loaded pin attached by an extension bar to the trigger assembly ensures striker safety. The striker is blocked from striking the primer or Percussion cap of the cartridge, till the trigger is pulled. Drop safety ensures that the extension bar locks the striker into place from the rear until the trigger is pulled.

The GLOCK 21 is result of innovation and customer understanding, it is a product of a company that actually seeks to give the customer the quality and precision it demands.

One of the best in glock model

I have the 13+1 model 21, and bought it used and never had a problem at 800+rounds fired. Far more accurate than my Taurus 24/7 9mm at 25+ feet, the glock has proven to be a reliable accessory for my home defense and CCW purposes and offers many after market upgrades at the fraction of the costs of many higher priced and finicky 45 Cal. pistols. Don't get me wrong, I like the 1911 45, but most are impractical with their limited magazine capacity in the age of the New World Order.
