Captain Garand,
'M1911' refers to a particular pistol model type after the original Colt manufactured 45ACP pistol designed in 1911. Today there are numerous clones of this famous pistol.

38 Super cartridge was introduced in the late 1920s as a higher pressure loading of the .38 ACP. The .38 Super has gained distinction as the caliber of choice for many top pistol match competitors. It has a flat trajectory and is a hot round.

Now the 1911 is available in 38 Super. Here is my Colt Combat Commander chambered in 38 Super.

Thank you.

If I am not mistaken, I have two pistols and one revolver with rubber grips. I think, dang it - now I am going to have to check. Tomorrow perhaps, to darn late right now.
