Gear up lads,
The Iran-Israel-United States triangle has demonstrated that they can attack their enemies. Then blame each others for starting it. If you think about it, this act is an offensive strike and could lead to the possibility of war. It's nice to see that everyone is so dedicated to reducing tensions in the area. Iran furthers the isolation of the Iranian people from the international community. Iran's President is a Wack Job.

White House said at the Iran's missiles violate existing United Nations resolutions. Can anyone tell me what good is the U.N.???

An Islamic agency reported that this was part of a larger military exercise. In Tehran, they said that as many as nine missiles of different sizes were fired during the exercise, carried out partly near the Persian Gulf shipping lanes. Just great, that’s where the oil tankers come and go. Iran is threatening to close. A top Iranian official said Iran would retaliate against Tel Aviv. Fasten the chin straps...

It's been coming since we invaded Iraq, and before. Iraq makes the perfect base of operations for such a conflict. Throw in Afghanistan and we've got two points of entry. Interesting how that worked out isn't it?

Just a coincidence or perhaps strategic serendipity?
I shared your observation during Desert Storm, and mused how convenient it would be to take out two dirty birds with one stone... nuke, what ever works.

Our government has been planning this for years. Controlling the oil flow is the objective. Terrorism was the vehicle, served on a silver platter.

I'm sure my last statement isn't going to be wildly popular, but I believe it to be the truth.

President Abama, will never allow us to clean that slate. President McCain, wound do no more than stategic air strike with cruise missiles. Sorry guys don't see it happening within four years. Funny though, I was talking to the son of a drinking buddy at the post a week or so back, he's a recruiter here in Southern Ohio. They're willing to take just about anyone under 40 yrs of age right now. Including some convicted felons! Uncle Sam is scrapping the bottom of the barrel for some reason. Iraq, Iran, I don't know, but he bought me two beers. Three and I probably would on signed anything. (smile).

I salute you all. The way I view this is,even though the United States currently has draft register, we have resisted a draft for most of our Country's history because the draft is not part of our tradition. Americans view voluntary military service as a hallmark of democracy.

Conscription makes sense only in moments of extreme national peril such as the Civil War and World War II. During the Second World War, for example, virtually all able-bodied men of draft age -- about 12 million -- were needed to defend the republic. In short, the draft was fair because virtually everybody that could serve had to serve. But those moments are rare. Imposing a draft at any other time creates not shared sacrifice but a lottery for the unlucky.

If we return to the draft, it may represent a failure of democracy, not a means to ensure its future. Citizenship carries both duties and privileges, but democracy thrives only when citizens hold both equally precious. When virtue is imposed, it ceases to be virtue.

If the United States cannot field an all-volunteer force to fight the global war on terror, then we have problems far worse than those faced by terrorists. It would mean we have lost the will to defend our nation.
