Here's one of my favorite 9MM. Smith & Wesson Model 39 was introduced in 1956 and was available for civilian sale. The S&W Model 39 was the first 9MM pistol manufactured by a US company. The Colt Commander was on the market before the 39, but wasn’t chambered in 9mm at that time. I remember the days when the caliber was considered "strange" and "foreign" and articles in gun magazines were treating the 9mm cartridge like it was exotic. Nice pistol. The Model 59 is the hi-capacity model that was introduced during the 1970's "When Determined To Survive, Leave Nothing To Chance" |

I had a browning hi-power years ago, big mistake getting rid of'er. I loved that gun, more than any other, except may Winchester Trench pump. I'm always looking to replace both.... |

Why do they call it a high power? It's only a 9mm right? |

LT Colonel Brad, The Pistol is a 9mm. The gun's model name is 'Browing Hi-Power' Remember that when it was introduced in 1922, the Browing pistol was a revelation. It offered the better balance, better control of handling, larger physical size and firepower, with an impressive 13-round magazine +1 capacity. The only comparable pistol was the German Luger. The Browing had twice the capacity of the Luger. Thus 'Hi-Power' Over the years, the pistol aged gracefully and continues to have a loyal following. The craftsmanship and function of this pistol of the machined steel frame, slide, and their natural point ability. The double-column magazine, the grip is narrow to accommodate almost every paw size. The single-action trigger is smooth with consistent pull for a service grade pistol. The gun functions reliably, it's accurate enough and easy to shoot.
