Around these parts the Fairground shows are the larger ones. How many tables do you expect at the Palm Beach show?

I have a hard time justifying the cost of a drum magazine. I've never had any trouble with a stick that seem to burn up the ammo rapidly.

Couldn't make it to the show this weekend. To answer your question Chain, the fairgrounds shows in Tampa typically have between 600 and 900 tables. Plenty to keep an avid gun enthusiast busy all weekend.

Thanks Major Brad,
The fairground shows are fun. They turn into a social event, with the fact that a good percentage of exhibitors know me. I also run into folks from NRA Firearm Safety Training and DNR Hunter's Safety classes that I have worked. They always seem to remember me. I feel bad when I can't recall their names. Once in a while I remember them.

Chain, I have the same problem remembering names. Drives me insane when someone knows my name and I can't recall theirs. Most of the time, I'll ask them to excuse my forgetfulness, and remind me their name.
In your situation, I can certainly understand not remembering everyone's name from a class you taught or helped with. That's a lot of people to recall.

Brad,
You're correct my friend and very considerate to point that out. I have been a Firearm Instructor since the fall of '98, approximately ten years. During the classroom segment, I keep an attendance roster in front of me. I address the participants as Mr. Jones or Ms Nelson. I do this to demonstrate respect, as I expect it in return. Remembering names and faces is less difficult when the individual's name is written. In addition, I develop the roster and the process of typing the names adds with memorization. Inevitably, there will be an individual that stands out. Like the exuberant young man that brought a Desert Eagle to qualify for his CCP. The first round was centered, however he flinched so bad during the preceding rounds he couldn’t qualify. I allowed him a do over and the use of my XD9. He did fine. Participants like that are hard to forget.

Wow, a Desert Eagle for a CCP class. I certainly wouldn't want to be remembered for that. Among my circle of friends we have a name for those types of guns. For the sake of "keeping it clean" I won't be sharing that expletive. But to give you an idea, it's along the same lines as the name we have for those guys driving around in Dodge Vipers.
