What happened to all the great back and forth about guns? Seems like everyone is fading here.

I was wondering the same thing. It is as if the interest evaporated...
It seemed to have begun around the holidays. There appears to be plenty of guests visiting, however it's been a while since I have seen a new member post an introduction.

I log on to both RnG sites everyday and very little is happening on either RnG site. The Sister site has some traffic. Mostly the Jokes and Videos categories.

Major,
I am sure your right and membership postings should ramp up. I imagine as we get closer to spring, members will start to get the shooting bug again. It's hard for me think of our sport as seasonal, as I am involved with it year around.

Ok Lets talk (and I dont mean the same old garbage that the juveniles and politico's on other sites talk about).
I went for a hunt a couple weeks back, chasing reds... Wet, misty day, extremly dense & steep bush. I got very close to a couple of hinds but they saw me 1st, they were out of site before I could get a bead... But what the hell both the young bloke a myself had good fun stalking. Then on the way out, I let him shoot a tin of baked beans with a .303 (Even more fun)

Major Jack135,
That's what memories are made of... getting out there with a good friend, even if it's a four legged one. As a kid, I had a retriever named Gauge. What a companion. We would find Whitetail Antlers and Owl Pellets. Watch beaver build their huts on a secluded pond deep in the forest. We'd be in the woods for hours until dark. I'd follow the him out because he was the only one of us that knew the way back to the house. I wonder if today's young people could benefit from such wholesome activities.

Major Rifleman1,
You have a lot to look forward to my friend. I am glad to learn that your sharing the things that will build self confidence and strength in your son. You should be proud. I bought my boy his first dirtbike at 12. His first shotgun at 15 and his first 1911 at 21. My son and I have tickets to go to Supercross next weekend. I am taking him and his girl friend. My boy bought her a Honda CRF 150 last fall. Now, it is they who take me riding with them. I am proud of both of them. My hope for you is that, perhaps, someday you'll have a similar tale to share.

We are about to send a notice to the 3200 members letting them know of the new look, it will be a in few more days. That should also help restart the traffic and discussions.

I understand the effort involved and it is appreciated. With over 3,000 members, one would expect forum traffic to be much more than is currently experienced. I suspect the trouble last fall is the cause. A new look will help. Then, it will be up to moderators to keep the site activity monitored.

We're here! Some of us are just silent listeners/readers, learning what we can. The Colonel is right about shooting being seasonal. I have my membership at the range, but have only been there once in the last year. This up-coming weekend will be the first time this year I go shooting. Spring is here, and I have two new pistols I'm dying to shoot. After that, I usually go plinking about twice a month. I'd go more, if the price of ammo wasn,t so high these days.

Staff Sergeant Smith,
It's good to see your post and glad you'll be throwing lead down range soon. A few ways to combat the high cost of ammo. Buy in bulk, collect the empties and exchange the brass at your local gun shows for reloads or start reloading yourself. In any case make every shot count.

Tried playing with my own reloads, but commercial loads were just better. As to buying bulk; Wish I had that option, usually by my first spring shooting, I've collected about 300 hundred rounds for each of my 25 or so favorite weapons. After that, I'm buying at Buckeye Outdoors for which ever I'm taking out to shoot. Even that is typically just a couple hundred rounds per firearm I take, It adds up fast!!!

I understand. I am fortunate enough to be able to work local the Gun Shows. I have done business with the same guy for almost 10 years. I typically buy 1k at a time. One month its .223 the other 45ACP and so on. I sort brass and exchange for reloads also. Its a hassle, but thats the only way I can afford to shoot as often as I do. It adds up very fast my friend. Good luck to you.
