HEY MAN , THAT IS REALY EASY ( http://www.hsprecision.com )THEY SELL THE MG KIT. COMES WITH STEEL FLOOR PLATE , AND MAG. 5 , 10 RND. TAKE THE TWO SCEWS OUT OF THE TRIGER GARD PULL IT APART AND REPLACE WITH THE NEW FLOOR , INSERT THE TWO SCREWS , AND THAT IS ABOUT IT 250.00 DOLLARS AND 7 MINUTS . BUY THE WAY , THE NEW FLOOR PLATE IT STEEL NOT THE CRAPPY ALUMINUM IT COMES WITH , IT GETS RID OF THAT WEEK HINGE PIN IN THE FRONT . MAKES FOR A NICE UP GRADE ! I PUT IT ON MY REM 700P . But Basically if you want true precision shots with around long range and to short range you would want the 308. caliber gun , the Terminal Ballistics show a great effect than a 5.56(223) mostly AR-15 are for fun like mine I got is a Bushmaster about 16" which is now hard to find these days what I got but if you want to fire off semi_automatic round or a home defense rifle I would garantee these would be it of the Medium range ,recoil, lightwieght and dependable. but yeah you choose I am just giving props and each one

Get one of each - Rem 700 in .308 Win for long range accuracy and stopping power and the AR15 for 20 to 30 rounds of sustained firepower and decent accuracy up to 300 meters. I have a Rem 700 BDL in 30-06 and a Colt AR15 Sporter. I am contemplating buying the new Rem 700 VTR (Varmit-Tactical Rifle) in .308 Win and mounting a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10 x 44mm scope on it. Should be a super hunting/sniping weapon. Check it out at www.remington.com.

Nice pics General. Got me to thinking, maybe it's time for me to take my 700 to the synthetic stock and give up the walnut.

That is a great rifle stock.
It doesn't cost an arm, just your leg...

Will that stock work for an FN Patrol Bolt Rifle in .308? Anyone?

HA! WE PAY THAT FOR GASS . BUT SERIOUSLY , ITS NO MORE THAN MY AICS OR MCMILLAN A5 , THE FUNNY PART IS EVERY ONE BUYS THIS STUFF ! THEY DONT REALIZE HOW HEAVY THEY ARE . IF YOU PLAN ON DEER HUNTING (DONT) THEY ARE GREAT AT THE RANGE , BUT HEAVY !

My FN is strictly a range gun. I've got a 30-06 for deer hunting.

Cost is always an issue. My wife tries to keep my firearm expenses in check. But, if I went synthetic, will I have to also go for the mag and do away with my floor plate? I don't imagine it will matter that my 700 is an 8mm, but I've only seen a few. Are their mags and conversions ready off of the shelf?
