I've always liked the M1A National Match: proven action, piston assisted blowback (less component wear) and it's nice in the shoulder too. I don't have a favourite per se but I do find the Remington M24 quite impressive, what do you reckon? |

ME I would consider a 308. caliber thats a rifle that meets the standards of sniper, also a 50. caliber if you want to spruce things up but whats better is a M200 .408 caliber, better the best 50.caliber, accuracy, lower recoil but more damage brings to infantry or a mobile vehicle and shot about over 2miles a still accurate. buts its your choice. Or just can go with the USMC sniper rifle or Russian. The AR-15 is Gangster.even snipers |

Captain, I believe it is street slang. He is giving the rifle respect. Respect is something every gang members needs. Showing respect for not only the individual, but also for one's set or gang, family, territory, and various other things, real or perceived is the mind of the "gang-banger". I mean no disrespect First Lieutenant AK Sniper. "When you're determined to survive, you leave nothing to chance." |

Mainly Alcapone was a Mafia Alcohol seller and distributer durng after the Prohibition on Alcohol, and he killed his rival alcohol seller on the other side NY. and shippedin Illegal Canadian Alcohol. I think that the Congress made AR and most war weapons get bought iin civilian arms and know look at the Assualt Weapon Banning of 2000 I think or 2004 and most of the guns were assualt weapons were banned in some states but here in Alaskan we can have abouy any werapon up here. NO ALCAPONE DID NOT USE THE AR , BUT THE IMAGE OF A GANGSTER WITH A TOMPSON , GOT FOCUSED ON , LIKE ST VAL DAY MASS. THE IMAGE CAUSED HISTARIA IN NORMAL PEOPLE , THEY VOTED AGAINST THEM ! THE IMAGE OF PUNK GANGSTA KID'S WITH A AK , OR A GLOCK HAS DONE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO LAW ABIDING PEOPLE WHO JUST LIKE GUN'S , THATS WHAT I MENT ! AND NO ,( AK IM NOT CALLING YOU A PUNK KID ), FLORIDA HAS RECONIZED THAT IT HAS ONE OF THE WORST GANG PROBLEMS IN THE US ! GUNS ARE NOT THE PRBLEM , HOLLYWOOD , AND THE LACK OF PARENTING IS . |

I follow you fred ballou and understand what you mean, yeah basically there ganngs in about every state b/c lack of parenting and law.and basically a G wannabe or crime maker just likes making trouble with Glock, which IDK why they choose that. the AK is mainly used in middle and close quarters b/c the accuracy.and remember the AR15 didn't come in play since the 1960's when Eugene Stoner was ordered to make a auto and semi-auto rifle system. but reason why it was hated b/c it was a small rifle and caliber and needed to clean it about every time. but intil about near 1970's the military redesigned and changed a few modifications.but these rifle earned itself on the battlefield, but now need a new weapon sysytem b/c the Gov't dsoesn't want a old rifle in service but look at the M14 used by sniper teams and US Navy SEALS, thats still in use. the Thompson is a great weapon to have, and even look into Weaponoly Series on History or Military channel. I have a Bushmaster AR-15 . ( Gangsta! lol) The same as the DC sniper. It worked pretty good for him! (I am in no way condoning the actions of that crazy bastard!) And I had the AR before he went on his rampage. I also have a Dragunov. If you are only shooting at 300 yrds the AR is great. If you want to step it out a little go for the 7.62 punch on the Dragunov. They make a round just for the Dragunov. It's called 7n1. It's hard to find. But it's the S*H*I*T! If you can't decide, do what I did. Get them both! lol |

The barret is nice for larger caliber, i like the M-14 but for just a good all around sniper rifle the best one that I ever used overseas was the Robar SR-60 308. Super Maf, Fantastic gun, easy to use, clean and repair, very reliable, and simple, and you could beat it drop it kick it destroy it and still shoot very well, the durability is like a glock |

I think "sniper rifle" is just a fanciful term when used outside of the military lexicon. How many civilians need a "sniper rifle"? Who or what are they shooting that requires a precise shot at 500+ yards? There are very good rifle/optic combinations commercially available that will easily reach out 300 to 500 yards. One does not have to invest in a 50 cal when a .308 Win or a 30-06 will suffice. A good bolt action Remington, Ruger, Weatherby, et al, will do. There's nothing wrong with a good quality AR15 either. What's really essential is the ability of the shooter rather than the expense of a so-called "sniper rifle". |
