hello all, need to ask some advise from some wise individuals. I just purchased a Long Branch 303 No 4 MK I. I am asking advise because; the marking on this are looking to be rare. It is stamped with a date of 1943 under the "long Branch" but also stamped '43 on the barrel, it also is stamped with a royal crown and BNP below (in 2 different areas) the "long branch" stamps are there also "two flags crossed with DPC in the area" and I have also found the Long Branch arrow inside the C. On the area above the trigger the serial number is listed as 43L3703 above that is stamped "ENGLAND" and below is "H 21" which I have not seen either stamps with the serial numbers listed. There are a couple of other stamps that I can't make out one looks like a bj on top of the barrel, another looks like the british crown with two flags crossed but very small, I have also found a X down the barrel. stamped on the left side of barrel is the 303 2.222 below that is 18.5 tons per square, (a box instead of the word square). Now with all this information so far keep in mind this rifle looks like a "E.A.L" model but no butt stock, rear site and front site. the front site on this rifle reads "parkerhale england".
I know this is alot of info but could use the adivise.
thank you
mike

Palmemic, here's what I have found out about this rifle. Your rifle was manufactured in the village of Long Branch, Ontario. An arsenal that was commonly referred to by ‘Longbranch Arsenal’. Wartime rifles were stamped “No. 4 Mk I - LONG BRANCH 194x”, post-war rifles were stamped “C No. 4 Mk-I LONG BRANCH 195x”. The facility was renamed as Canadian Arsenals Limited (CAL). A tid-bit for you. From what I was able to gather, our British friends offered a training .22LR version No. 7 Mk-I, from conversions of No. 4 rifles. However, Canadian also produced a training version. But the rifles are not conversions. Some 20,000 C No. 7 Mk-I training rifles were manufactured by Long Branch Arsenal/CAL between 1943 and the 1950s. I hope this helps and good luck with your further research.
