I was at the range a few days ago and the range master asked me to try some Wolf ammo out to see if I liked it. I did so and fired around 50 rounds but, the smoke from this 9mm 115 grain full metal jacket ammo was nearly unbearable. Plus when I got home and cleaned my gun it was all gunket up with soot. I usuall shoot CCI, American Eagle or Federal and have never had any problems with any of these brands. So, with everyone who has shot any Wolf ammo, I was wondering if this is the tendency of this ammo or not. I for one would hesitate to shoot it again. Oh yes, one more thing about this box of Wolf ammo, I got three duds out of 50 in the box. I have never had this happen with the brands I named obove and I have shot hundreds of rounds of each.

I have heard the same complaint about Wolf. The stuff is Russian made . . . not to say that the Russians aren't capable of making quality ammo, but when you figure in the cost of transport for this HEAVY product and still end up with a cheaper product than domestic production, I think you have to wonder where they are cutting corners. I prefer to buy quality American made ammo.

To save money, I also reload extensively which gives me the ultimate in product quality control and I end up with better rounds for less money. The actual amount saved depends on the individual round, but usually no more than about two thirds the cost of factory ammo and usually much better performance.

Thanks for the input. I knew I wasn't imagining things when I got home and saw the shape my chamber and feed was in, not to mention the duds that were in the box of ammo I used. No more Wolf for me. I was not aware that Wolf was Russian made, that alone would have made me say no way. I for one usually buy American, use American and will not use knowingly will not purchase foreign unless that is the only option. Much of what we purchase is inferior quality to say the least. The only foreign made gun I own right presently are two Browning Hi Powers that were made in Belguim in 1967 and 1971. They are fine weapons with great engineering and accuracy. By the way I would love to hear what people have experienced with different brands of ammo, the good, the bad and the ugly. It helps all of us to keep our guns running smooth as silk. Thanks again!!

I have found wolf to be as good as any eastern block ammo have used it in 7.62x39, .303,.223rem,6.5x55 all with the same result dirty but accurate not like federal would not use that on ragheads not at all accurate ex sniper and could not cut paper at 500 yards best I have found storebought is hornady that is my 2 cents for what it is worth
