I was reading the discussion on 9 mm hand guns and what was a good one. I have found that a Kahr CW9 or P9 semi auto double action and is a small concealable hand gun. The whole weapon only measures 6 inches long. The clip holds seven. The sights are white bar combat sights, very easy to see in a dimmly lite room. I wear it in a ankle holster or belt holster. There is no safety so it has a long trigger pull. I have shot 600 rounds through this weapon and I have had no failures.

avp, sorry you had such a bummer with your 9mm luger high point. Was high point the brand name, as I am not familiar with it. I have three 9mm's and I have had no trouble with any of them. The small size 9mm Kahr is not a luger type of weapon, and I have not had any problems with it after shooting 800 rounds through it. Plus I have two Browning Hi Power's 9mm, one made in 1969 and the other made in 1971 in Belgium. Both are supberb weapons and I have had no jamming with either of them after 800-900 rounds shot through both of them. I have talked with many shooters of 9mm and some have had the problem you are talking about, but, usually they have been able to resolve the problem either with a gunsmith or just learning a better shooting method. I hope you can find a 9 mil that suits you and your type of shooting.

Try a glock 19 or 26, very good guns, cheaper than the Kahr and will not give any problems in reliability. I carry a 19 every day and most can't tell i have it on.

scottmilk9, I to have tried the Glock 19 and 26, both are very good weapons. Although I have a small hand and the Glock tend to be a bit large for my own personal use. Buying a hand gun is like buying a pair of shoes, they either fit or they don't, and shooting a pistol that doesn't fit your hand can be a chore. But, when one does fit it is pure heaven on earth. For instance when I picked up a Browning Hi Power, it was love at first pick up,it fit my hand like a glove. But, if any of you are going to carry the gun you buy everyday like scottmilk9 does make sure you look around and find one that is small yet serviceable. Concealed means just that, not where you can see it. My Kahr CW9 is very small and like scottmilk9 with his Glock no one would ever know I have it on. If any of you are having trouble finding one to fit you personally, just keep looking as there are a lot of very nice 9mm guns out there, if you just take your time and find just the one for you.

The majority of my pistol shooting has been with a steyr M9, as pistols go it's light, accurate, more reliable than most with very little to go wrong with them. Very low maintenance and encredably solid and not to mention not a bad price. Besides the M9 i would have to agree with Scottmilk the glock 19 is a superb 9mm handgun.

i don't like 9mm's b/c of jamming,accuracy and dropping the target arn't good i would choose a 45.acp,10mm 1911

Pistol is a word that should be used when referring to a revolver.
Automatic or semi-automatic, handgun etc denotes a magazine fed firearm

.45 IS A POWERFUL ROUND. LIKE WHEN YOU ARE USING A COLT'S GOVERNMENT MODEL, SURELY IT IS NOT FOR AMATEURES.

NO GUNS, NO GLORY!!!

The word "pistol" is often synonymous with the word "handgun"..... FOR THE AMERICAN USAGE, THE WORD "PISTOL" IS OFTEN REFERRED TO REVOLVERS HOWEVER THE COMMONWEALTH USAGE OF THAT WORD MAKES NO DISTINCTION AND MAY REFER TO REVOLVERS, SEMI-AUTO's, OR MUZZLE LOADING HANDGUNS.

NO GUNS, NO GLORY!!!

Much has been said about the original question that was asked way back in April 17th. Many thoughts have been put forth, but, I tend to agree with gunlover_dhadz. My preference is a 45 ACP as my carry weapon. I carry the Kahr 9 mm as my back up weapon on my ankle. I carry a Colt Commander Lightweight with a 4 inch barrel. Using a 185 grain Winchester load makes it a very nice weapon, and with the Kahr 9 mm on my ankle I have all the confidence that I need for any encounter I may have to deal with. But, I am not in favor of a 9 mm as my main carry weapon, due to the flesh destroying data that is out there on the ammo for both of the 9 mm and 45 ACP.

Kahr is a fine weapon- I prefer Sigs. P226, 229 or 239 depending on your need. CPO they can be found for about the same as a new Kahr. I don't care for the DAO, depending on your feeluings regarding DAO, DAK or DA/SA will dictate what you ultimately buy, along with price. Good luck with what every you pick.

THERE'S NO PROBLEM ABOUT WHAT CALIBER OR TYPE OF GUNS YOU'RE GOING TO BUY AS LONG AS IT FITS YOU PERFECTLY..... IT MAY EITHER BE A PISTOL OR A RIFLE AS LONG AS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THAT WEAPON THEN THERE'S NO PROBLEMO...

NO GUNS, NO GLORY!!!

First you have to KNOW every part of your firearm!!
It's called a (magazine) not a clip.
The word clip refers to a "stripper clip" a small steel band that holds multiple rounds for ease of loading into (top loading rifles).

A common mistake made but If you have a firearm you really need to know the names of the most rudimentary of parts.
