This a great subject and there are some very good books out there to give some well needed pointers. Just one book is "The Concealed Hangun Manual" by Chris Bird. There are many good shooting ranges with very gifted range officers to help the novice along with safe handling of a fire arm. If you are going to carry a gun after getting a concealed carry permit, knowing how to handle your gun is of the upmost importance and will give you a whole lot of confidence. I just hope that some of the new comers that are not familiar with the holding and firing of a hand gun or rifle will come onto this forum and ask questions, as there is a wealth of knowledge on this site. Good shooting!!!

I believe we must be willing to teach. Many are afraid of guns becuase of the bad publicity they get from the liberally biased media.I actually had a coworker tell me that sometimes considers getting one, but is afraid of having an accident, or worse, his kids having one.I explained to him that the kids can't use it if it is on you at all times, or disabled by locks or locking it up.Guns don't just sprout legs and go around killing people.Someone has to pull the trigger.I also told him what I tell everyone I have ever tought too shoot.Don't ever piont a gun, loaded or not, at another living thing unless you plan on, or have no qualms about killing it.That way if the gun is fired intentionally or by reflex, it is no accident.I think it is our duty as gun owners to help deprogram the public on gun issues. We must also be willing to share our knowledge, as well as experience to help the brain washed masses understand the importance of the Second Amendment Rights.
