Ruger SR9 Recall Update
July 2008 - By Press Release
We have determined that some Ruger SR9 pistols manufactured between October 2007 and April 2008 can, under certain conditions, fire if dropped with their manual safeties in the "off" or "fire" position. The pistols will not fire if the manual safety is in the "on" or "safe" position.
We will retrofit all Ruger SR9 pistols starting with serial number prefix “330” (330-xxxxx) with these new parts at no charge to our customers.
In order to ensure correct fitting, the new parts must be installed at our Ruger factory in Prescott, Arizona. We will remove the old parts and install the new trigger group promptly, at no charge, and will return the pistol to you. The old parts will not be returned.

Update – We are now retrofitting SR9 pistols and continue to send shipping boxes to customers on a weekly basis. Please remember that the pistols will be retrofitted on a first-come, first-served basis, so there may be a delay in receiving your shipping box, depending upon when you registered for the recall. Thank you for your patience.
Update – Ruger has begun shipping the first retrofitted SR9 pistols and continues to send shipping boxes to customers on a weekly basis. A number of parts have been changed in the new design.
These parts include: The Trigger Assembly– A number of parts in the trigger assembly were replaced, but the trigger itself is most notable among them. Although the original design has a two-piece trigger, it was comprised of an inner and outer “shoe,” and the inner shoe was not visible. The new design incorporates a visible inner trigger of a blade design.
The redesign has had the desirable effect of reducing trigger over travel. In addition, with the inner trigger blade depressed, the length-of-pull is noticeably reduced.
The Magazine Latches– magazine latches were changed on a rolling basis during production of the original design. Retrofitted pistols with the older latches will receive the newer version, which will allow them to work well with any SR9 magazine variation.
The Magazine Disconnect and Magazine Disconnect Spring have been replaced with different units. The Striker Blocker and Striker Blocker Spring have been replaced with different units.
